The Method

The Dynamic Equilibrium Method

"In nature, the stable systems are the ones that keep adjusting - not the ones that stand still. That is what we train, in people and in organisations. And because walking is the simplest form of dynamic equilibrium, we work while walking." - Mircea Ilie · a concept from systemic ecology

The 6 principles

The foundation of every programme - from open events to one-to-one work.

1
Balance is something you create continuously - it is not a given.

In nature, stable systems are not the motionless ones, but the ones that keep adjusting. Personal sustainability is not a destination - it is a practice.

2
Evolution, not demolition.

Living systems do not fix themselves by tearing themselves down - they correct in motion, in small, repeated steps. We build on what already works, not on the archaeology of failure.

3
Balance belongs to the whole - and to its parts.

A person exists in relationships, teams, communities, ecosystems - balance is a property of the connections. And a whole that sacrifices its parts is not in balance; it is in exploitation.

4
A system can only sustain itself through people who sustain themselves.

A system is more than the sum of its people - but it cannot sustain itself without them. That is why sustainable systems begin with the people who lead them.

5
Nature participates - it is not scenery.

In nature you do not observe dynamic equilibrium - you take part in it. The rhythm of your steps, the terrain, the weather are systems in continuous adjustment; walking through them, your own system begins to do the same.

6
Walking is dynamic equilibrium.

Literally: every step is a controlled fall, corrected instantly. We work while walking because the mind, in motion, does what the body does: it rebalances.

What it rests on

The method is mine, but it is not invented out of nothing. Below is the scientific evidence we have.

Solution-focused. The method grows out of my Erickson training (Erickson Solution-Focused) and keeps its central premise: in coaching we do not dig into the causes of the problem - we start from the resources you already have and from where you want to go. Principle 2 - "evolution, not demolition" - is that same orientation, expressed in the language of living systems.

1. What we know about coaching

2. Why in nature it's different

3. What proofs we have about nature-based coaching

The papers above explain why we work the way we do. This is not a promise of outcome: what changes for you depends on what you bring and on what you do between sessions.

From principles to practice

The method is the science; the programmes are its practice - stages of the same mountain day, from the first shelter to the climb.

🏡 The LodgeMoving forward does not mean walking without pause; this is where you first feel where your balance is. Open events with group coaching exercises.
🥾 The PathEvolution appears in motion - and calibrates better together. Small nature group, fixed calendar.
⛰️ The AscentYour climb, at your pace: balance built step by step, with your coach alongside. One-to-one coaching.
🏔️ The next levelContinuous balance at altitude - individually or with your team. In preparation.
